From A[PI] to Z: Everything New and Improved Across the 3Dtracking Platform and API

Written by 3Dtracking | Aug 18, 2026, 4:44:51 AM

Even software needs a little housekeeping. Not change for the sake of change, but updates that make easy-to-use functionality even easier, and that shave off seconds that ultimately add up when you’re managing multiple clients, users, vehicles, and systems every day.

No upgrade is insignificant when it addresses a market need or a request from you, our partners.

That is why this release combines practical platform improvements with several highly-requested additions. The result is a more flexible (and secure) 3Dtracking experience, so you can spend less time working around the platform and more time supporting your fleet clients.

New in the 3Dtracking platform:

  1. Retrieval of messages sent to devices via API

  2. New partner report on user unit access.

  3. Video on demand

Made easier in the 3Dtracking platform:

4     Reports and alerts limited to specific tiers

5     New field in driver behavior reports.

6     Custom user access for scheduled reports

7     Custom fields for trip summary report.

8     Custom retrieval of unit odometer and engine readings from API

9     Retrieval of attribute information for inactive units via API

10    Update to partner unit report.

11     Time period added to engine running time report.

12     Webhooks availability.

13     User template availability.

14     Unauthorized movement alert availability.

API upgrades

Custom retrieval of odometer and engine readings

As a partner, you can now retrieve custom odometer and engine data directly through the API. This data includes engine details and readings for each vehicle.

Think of this in a real world scenario. Your client might be using an external system to schedule vehicle maintenance according to mileage or engine hours. If custom odometer and engine hour values are retrievable through API, the maintenance system can use these readings as they’re displayed on our telematics platform.

  • The result: More accurate service scheduling and less chance of your client missing maintenance intervals.

Retrieval of attribute information for inactive vehicles

Previously, when an inactive unit (vehicle) was retrieved through the API, the ‘PartnerCustomInfo’ and ‘attributes’ fields were returned blank, regardless of whether information had already been saved against the vehicle.

Now, the API can return attribute information for units with an inactive status. This added flexibility makes it easier for you to maintain comprehensive records.

Retrieval of messages sent to the device

We’ve made it possible to retrieve messages and commands sent to and from a tracking device directly through the Partner API.

This gives your own systems access to the device communication history, making it easier to confirm what was sent, what response came back, and what happened next, all without needing to log into the 3Dtracking platform.

So if a command is sent — for example, to request a vehicle’s location or immobilize it — your own system can retrieve the device response in the API.

Greater security across users, reports, and alerts

Alerts and reports limited to specific tiers

Scheduled and instant reports can now only be run when they are included in your clients' chosen tier. It’s a small, but critical functional update that we hope removes any uncertainty around what’s possible in the 3Dtracking platform.

  • What this means: Each of your clients will only get access to the reports and alerts within their tiers, and they can still upgrade at any time if they desire more functionality.

Custom user access for scheduled reports

When everyone can see everything, sensitive information can end up in the wrong hands. Now, each of your clients' users will only be able to view scheduled reports they have permission to access.

Previously, all users within a company could view every scheduled report. But with this enhancement, visibility is restricted according to each user’s assigned group and permissions.

Partner report on user unit access

We know that user access is difficult to monitor when you manage multiple companies, each with their own 100+ units.

So, we’ve made it possible for you to run one report showing exactly which users have access to which units across your client base. No need to check each company’s user permissions individually. This gives you a clear view of permissions in one place, and you can easily spot security risks.

Unauthorized movement alert availability

We have expanded the availability of unauthorized movement alerts to both the Advanced and Ultimate service tiers.

This popular alert helps flag unexpected vehicle or asset movement outside of authorized operating conditions, so your clients get an early warning when something is not right. It’s a must-have alert in any security ecosystem.

Easier ways to view, report, and act on fleet data

New field added to driver behavior reports

Driver behavior reports now include a ‘unit group’ column. This allows users to see which group each vehicle belongs to (such as long-distance vehicles or mining vehicles) and assess driver behavior more fairly against comparable vehicles and operating conditions, rather than relying on one-size-fits-all comparisons.

No more data interval alerts for inactive units

Data interval alerts for inactive alerts will no longer be triggered. This applies to both yours and your clients' operations.

Our aim is to reduce unnecessary and disruptive alerts, and make it easier for users to monitor only the active units - vehicles - that require attention.

Custom field in trip summary report

The ‘information' field saved against a vehicle can now be included in a trip summary report. What goes into that field is up to your clients. It’s a customizable field where users can store any relevant unit information, such as an internal reference, vehicle category, or operational note.

Update to partner unit report

The customizable ‘information’ field saved against a unit is now included in your partner unit reports.

Just as your clients would use this field in their trip summary reports, you can use it in a unit report to capture custom details.

  • What this means: Context is included directly in one report. You don’t need to open and review each unit record individually.

Time period in engine running time report

Our ‘engine running time’ report now includes predefined time period options within its report parameters.

This new option provides a more convenient way to select the period your clients want to review, without requiring them to manually set start and end times each time they run a report.

Webhooks availability

Good news! Webhooks are no longer limited to a specific pricing tier. You can now configure webhook integrations for every client who requests them and give them access to real time event data.

For example, if your client in logistics uses a separate dispatch platform to manage deliveries, any vehicle events - such as a trip start or geofence entry - can flow straight into it without someone updating both systems manually. Dispatchers get the latest information, the two systems stay consistent, and your clients can respond without delay.

User template availability

Instead of configuring each new user from scratch, you can apply a predefined template that carries across the same user setup, access permissions, and settings. For the first time, this is now possible in our Advanced service tier.

Save setup time, starting now.

Video on demand

With the new video on demand feature, users can go to the Trips Media tab on the Tracking page, select a specific timeframe, and request up to 60 seconds of footage from a supported camera device.

This gives fleet and operations teams another way to investigate incidents when no automatic video event was generated, with footage available for supported Queclink, Howen, and Jimi IoT video devices.

New device integrations
